Comparing Options for Accepting Payments as a Freelancer or Blogger

When it comes to receiving payments from clients around the world, it’s important to choose the right online payment platform. Two popular options for freelancers and bloggers are PayPal and Payoneer. In a previous guide, we compared the cost efficiency of Payoneer and PayPal, with PayPal being our preferred choice due to its wider reach. In this article, we will explore how you can request money using these platforms to optimize your payment process.

Requesting Money with PayPal

If you decide to use PayPal, here are the simple steps to request money:

  1. Log in to your PayPal account.
  2. Select Tools and then Invoicing.
  3. You can either choose to Request Payment or Create a new invoice.
  4. If you choose Request Payment, you will be directed to a screen where you can enter the necessary details for the payment request.

While requesting payment directly may seem convenient, we recommend using PayPal’s invoicing feature for a more professional approach.

Creating an Invoice with PayPal

PayPal offers an efficient invoicing system that allows you to create professional online invoices. Follow these steps to utilize this feature:

  1. Visit the PayPal homepage and click on Create Invoice, or go directly to the PayPal invoice creation page.
  2. Take advantage of the various features offered by PayPal’s invoicing system to generate a polished and comprehensive invoice.
  3. Once you have completed the invoice, send it to your client. They can conveniently pay through the link provided in the email.
