KEYWORD: Samsung Galaxy S24, revolution in satellite connectivity

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S24 series is creating quite a stir with rumors suggesting that it will bring about a major revolution in smartphone connectivity by incorporating satellite communication support. An undisclosed Samsung executive has been the source of these exciting leaks, which are generating a lot of anticipation among tech enthusiasts. If these rumors turn out to be true, the Samsung Galaxy S24 devices could take smartphone capabilities to unprecedented heights.

Samsung’s Embrace of Satellite Communication

According to a recent report by Sisa Journal-E, Yong-In Park, the Head of Samsung Electronics’ System LSI Business, revealed during a presentation that the company is actively preparing to introduce satellite communication support in their upcoming smartphone lineup. The highly anticipated feature is expected to make its debut with the Samsung Galaxy S24 series.

Advancing Connectivity

Samsung has always been at the forefront of smartphone technology, constantly striving to offer innovative connectivity options to its users. While no specific timeline or models supporting satellite communication were disclosed by Yong-In Park, the news has generated a lot of enthusiasm within the tech community.

Inspired by Apple’s Lead

Samsung’s foray into satellite communication support seems to have been influenced by Apple’s introduction of non-terrestrial network (NTN) communication through the Emergency SOS satellite feature in the iPhone 14 series. Apple has continued to enhance this feature with its latest smartphones, including the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which highlights the value and demand for such cutting-edge capabilities.

Compatibility with Snapdragon and Exynos Chips

Earlier this year, Qualcomm unveiled the Snapdragon Satellite support feature with its Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. However, this technology was not activated in the Samsung Galaxy S23 series. On the other hand, Samsung’s Exynos 5300 modem, integrated into the Exynos 2400 mobile processor, along with Google’s Tensor G2 (Pixel 7) and Tensor G3 (Pixel 8) chips, already support NTN connectivity. The important question now is whether Samsung will enable satellite communication on its Exynos 2400 chip, expected to power the Galaxy S24 series, or on the recently released Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, which might be integrated into the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

The Future of Connectivity Unveiled

Although Samsung has not officially confirmed the addition of satellite communication support in their smartphones, the speculation surrounding this feature speaks volumes about the brand’s dedication to innovation. Users eagerly await to see if the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+, powered by the Exynos 2400 chip, or the Galaxy S23 Ultra, equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, will indeed bring this highly anticipated functionality. Furthermore, it remains unclear whether Samsung’s existing lineup, including the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Z Fold 5, will also feature emergency satellite connectivity.

TM Roh, the President and Head of Samsung’s Mobile Experience Business Division, previously mentioned that satellite functionality had not yet reached a mature enough stage for implementation in smartphones. However, as technology continues to advance, the possibility of satellite communication becoming a standard feature on high-end smartphones is an exciting prospect for both Samsung and its users.

In conclusion, the rumored inclusion of satellite communication support in the Samsung Galaxy S24 series hints at a future where smartphones offer unparalleled connectivity options. Samsung is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of smartphone innovation, and this feature could be a game-changer for the industry. Tech enthusiasts eagerly await further updates from Samsung, anticipating the evolution of smartphone capabilities.
